The East Swiss Golf Club Niederbüren is one of the oldest and most idyllic golf courses in Switzerland. The course was modernised in 2011 and 2012. Golf course architect Keith Preston preserved the character of the old course and brought the completely rebuilt greens with their undulating appearance up to the latest standards of today’s course architecture.
The 18-hole course has a parkland character and is situated in a floodplain landscape on the Thur, which can have an influence on the game on some holes. The first hole, a par 5 to warm up, runs straight along the Thur. The distances from the greens to the tees are very short and the guest player will find his way around quickly and without any problems. The flat, rather short and narrow course, situated at 497 metres above sea level, is also a challenge for the better handicap player.
The variety of nature is evident throughout the course in the most beautiful landscapes: Ponds, forest, trees, meadows, animals and above all a striking number of different bird species give the golf course a special value.
After passing the narrow Thur bridge – immersed in the tranquillity of the floodplain landscape – the stress of everyday life has completely disappeared. In a homely atmosphere in the clubhouse.
